DOULA SUPPORT

A Doula is an non-medical, yet essential, member of the birth team that provides physical, emotional, and informational support.

FIRST THINGS FIRST

What even is a doula?

Read an evidence based article all about everything a doula is, does, doesn’t do, statistics, and more here!

Evidence suggests that, in addition to regular nursing care, continuous one-to-one emotional support provided by a support personnel, such as a doula, is associated with improved outcomes for women in labor.”

My Philosophy:
Birth is a Becoming

Birth isn’t just a day on the calendar. It’s a profound, identity-shifting experience; and no two people walk through it the same way. My goal is to provide support that adapts to what you need.

As a doula I center the mother, always. I trust your body and your intuition, and I help you stay connected to both when things get intense or uncertain. I also know that your experience is deeply shaped by the people around you, including your partner. When they feel confident in their role, you feel safer and more supported. You both emerge from birth as new parents.

I’m a gap filler. A sounding board. A voice of reason. A calm hand. Sometimes I’m the one reminding you of your options; sometimes I’m in the background while you lead. I’m here to help you create your own mix of support; whether you need encouragement, education, physical comfort, or just someone who sees you.

Birth will ask a lot of you. But you don’t have to carry it alone.

“A well-experienced [doctor or] midwife is essential for feeling prepared for delivery. Having a doula is key to feeling equipped for labor.”

— Kate H.

LAUREN & COLE - HOSPITAL INDUCTION

“Working with Karely was such a great experience! Having never worked with a doula before my husband and I weren’t sure what to expect, but Karely really took the time to go over everything with us. Going from the initial consult call, to an at home visit, being with us at the hospital and even offering postpartum support she helped us have support at every step of our journey. We felt fairly prepared with the birth plan we had prior to meeting her, but she really helped us with adding in details that we hadn’t necessarily thought of and in helping us to make things clear and concise for the care team we had at the hospital.

One thing that I really want to highlight is how wonderful she was with us at the hospital. Starting with our at home visit she helped us come up with a plan so my husband felt confident helping me through the earlier stages of labor until we felt we needed her there as well. When she did arrive she was quick to provide hands on care that we had previously discussed and made sure that we felt empowered to make our own choices while at the hospital, even when we felt pressure from some of the staff. She provided a calm influence that helped to slow things down when they felt intense and held space for us when we needed it most. When our plans changed she was still supportive of our choices and also helped to take some amazing photos and videos of our sweet babies arrival. We are so glad that she was able to support us on this journey and would definitely recommend her to others!”

KATE & TYSON - BIRTH CENTER

“When I began planning for delivering my baby naturally at a birthing center, I knew that it would be important to be intentional. What I didn’t know I needed was a doula. Through the process of having a baby with a midwife and doula, I learned that a well-experienced midwife is essential for feeling prepared for delivery. Having a doula is key to feeling equipped for labor. And with Karely, that is just the beginning.

Karely is both compassionate and knowledgeable. She has a wonderful bedside manner and makes sure all the boxes are checked. She helped me prepare for the birth experience I wanted and was there whenever I needed her. I appreciate her thoughtfulness during pregnancy and postpartum. She has now supported me through two births, and I’m incredibly grateful for her dedication to serving our community and supporting its mothers.”

SANDRA & DANNY - HOMEBIRTH

Karely is both compassionate and knowledgeable. She has a wonderful bedside manner and makes sure all the boxes are checked. She helped me prepare for the birth experience I wanted and was there whenever I needed her. I appreciate her thoughtfulness during pregnancy and postpartum. She has now supported me through two births, and I’m incredibly grateful for her dedication to serving our community and supporting its mothers.”

COURTNEY P - INFORMATIONAL SUPPORT (POSTPARTUM)

“Karely helped me so much with my first postpartum experience! I was so focused on the baby registry and getting ready for the baby to be here and Karely was there to make sure I was prepared for postpartum. She gave me a list of all the things that I would need for postpartum and breastfeeding. Most of the things on her list I never would’ve thought of and were things I couldn’t have lived without! She also made sure that I knew how to properly take care of myself so that I could heal effectively and she helped me set expectations for family and friends. She gave me ideas for how to set different things in place to help me with my mental health through this time as well. We also talked through some of my fears and limiting beliefs and she was able to help me to clear a lot of them prior to having the baby which helped so much. I highly recommend working with Karely so that you can have a really positive postpartum experience and enjoy the newborn bubble just a little bit more!”
